Meta Quest headset v81 update welcomes major improvements: reshaping the main interface 3D environment supports interaction and keeping pace with Oculus Rift

According to APKUX on August 30, according to foreign media UploadVR, in the upcoming update of Meta Quest (Horizon OS) v81, Meta has made major changes to the default main interface environment of the headset, which is in line with the Oculus Home environment of that year.

For comparison, the current Meta Quest 2/3/3S/Pro default home interface home environment originated from the first generation Meta Quest. At that time, Meta only positioned the first generation Quest as a cheap VR all-in-one machine, so the main page environment provided is just a 3D scene + sky box.Although the user can walk freely in the room, he cannot have any substantial interaction with the scene.

The Oculus Rift provided a complete and interactive home environment “Oculus Home”. Currently, users can link Windows devices through the PC streaming mode provided by the Quest headset to experience the Oculus Home main interface home environment.

Referring to the screenshots distributed by the testers, the new moderator interface home environment is called “Immersive Home”, which deeply integrates the Meta Horizon “Meta Universe World” and the Oculus Rift features of that year. Users can now interact with various objects in the home environment, fix their players and apps on the wall, and can also easily view friends’ Facebook / Instagram updates on the wall.
